Everything about this office shines, from the free coffee in the foyer, to the bill pay. The staff treated me with superior service. A dental implant is a titanium “root” used to support restorations that resemble a tooth or group of teeth to replace missing teeth. The bone of the jaw accepts and osseointegrates with the titanium post.

Dental implants can be used to support a number of dental prostheses, including crowns, implant-supported bridges or dentures. They can also be used as anchorage for orthodontic tooth movement.

Typically, the implant will be placed by an oral surgeon or periodontist, who may also need to do additional procedures to create space for the implant. Once the implant is given enough time to adequately heal and osseointegrate, the general dentist will then restore the implant with a crown that is either cemented or screwed in place onto the implant.
